Wearing our green credentials with pride
UPN recognises the ever increasing importance of a sustainable environment and the logistics sector bears a huge responsibilty to help tackle that. UPN has been leading the pack through various means and will only continue to increase these efforts even further as time progresses.
For the period April 2024 to March 2025, UPN offset 28,500 tonnes of CO2 for pallets covering 26 million miles on UK roads through it’s pallet delivery carbon offset initiative. Emissions were calculated using ISO 14064:1-2018 and GHG Emissions Protocol Accounting and Reporting Standards methodologies and certified by Carban Neutral Britain.
All projects supported are certified via the Verra - Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), the Gold Standard - Voluntary Emission Reductions (VER) or the United Nations - Certified Emission Reductions (CER) programmes, the projects have also been selected based on their direct and indirect impact around the world - not just in offsetting, but also in supporting education, employment and clean water, as well as having net positive impact on the local wildlife and ecology.
In the same time period, UPNs operated at a utilisation rate of 77%, compared to APN published industry average of 51% utilisation.
In other sustainability initiatives, UPN are progressing towards final stages of ISO 14001 certification which has enabled UPN to formalise a management framework for all aspects of UPN that interact with the environment with a view to improve its environmental performances. Successes from this framework will drive the following business objectives this year.
